Our first day at the clinic began with devotions with the orthopedic work staff. We sang a few hymns and prayed together to start off our day.
We then proceeded to the workshop where we had a brief presentation of the knee Cadee and Caleb’s team had been working on. The team was able to test the knee on 2 of the orthopedic technologists in the shop using the adaptor. They received feedback from them on the functionality of the knee. They managed to test the knee on uneven terrain by walking about on the grass and they collected some valuable data. The team is hoping to have a patient wear the knee during their time at the clinic tomorrow.

The Cunningham Clubfoot team i.e Hayward and Ester worked with the physical therapist in the Clubfoot Clinic. The team observed how the Pirani Score helps to assess correction of the clubfoot and how this would lead to determining the best methods for each patient to have a successful correction. During their time they were fortunate enough to celebrate with a few patients who had graduated from the clinic with a successful correction. After lunch the team spent some time watching the casting process for clubfoot patients.

After a long day at the clinic, we sat down for dinner and we had an exciting conversation with some people we met at the guesthouse from Alaska. We debriefed over our day at the clinic and the inspiring experiences we had. We were all intrigued to learn about the history of the war between the Emus(the bird) and the Australians which the Australians seemed to have lost at some point.
We are grateful to be on this trip and are continuing in prayer as we go through the week.
